Mission
To promote literacy in the African American community, with an emphasis on African American women. To support primarily, but not exclusively, the works of African American authors. To encourage community involvement through charitable endeavors. To uplift and motivate each other.
EyeCU Reading & Social Network

EyeCU Reading began with hope—a dream sparked by one passionate book lover, Ebony Evans, who envisioned a space where stories could bring people together. What started as a spark has grown into something extraordinary: a sisterhood of nine core members who have navigated not only the pages of countless books, but also the chapters of our lives.

From laughter and tears to triumphs and challenges, EyeCU Reading & Social Network has always been more than a book club—it’s been a community, a sanctuary, and a celebration of the power of storytelling.

September 2025 marked 15 incredible years of EyeCU Reading with our first-ever EyeCU Reading Literary Experience – Powered by BRAE. This milestone event was a raging success, bringing together over 400 readers, authors, and supporters to celebrate Black literature, culture, and community in an unforgettable way.

The overwhelming love and energy from that gathering proved one thing: this was only the beginning. That’s why we’re committed to continuing this tradition bi-annually, creating a space where readers, authors, and the community can unite, connect, and celebrate the magic of books.
This event is more than a celebration—it’s a testament to the joy, power, and connection that come from stories shared and experiences lived together.

Here’s to the legacy we’ve built and the stories still to come. We can’t wait to see you at the next chapter of the EyeCU Reading Literary Experience.

Vision
To provide an avenue for women to congregate, with the primary focus on reading thought provoking books. To network with other book clubs, attend literary events and meet fascinating authors. To show our beauty and boldness in all that we do.
